Tell us a little about your company? It’s a wedding photography business. I love weddings and my passion is taking pictures of people. The two intersect so nicely for me.

I don’t consider what I do a job but a way of life. I am in love with all my couples and they let me be a part of their most special day. How humbling is that?

When did you establish your business? I have been a lifelong photographer. I was born in Japan and my mother is Japanese. You know where I’m going with this right? I have carried the camera around my neck forever.

What sets you apart from your competition? When it comes to wedding photography I don’t feel any competition. I guess because being in the corporate world for almost 35 years I did compete. I know what that’s like. In wedding photography, I am friends to all the other photographers I know and we share a creative bond unlike that in the real world.

Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in magazines, online forums, old movies, anything that has pictures with fashion and people in them.

What trend do you see coming for weddings this year? Of course vintage is still running it’s course, but now I see styled weddings which include the twenties look.

Do you regularly blog? If so, what’s your blog site? Yes, I blog all of my weddings the next day here!

Do you Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? Google+? Yes, you can friend me on Facebook here, follow me on Twitter here and pin with me on Pinterest here.

Can you share a funny/embarrassing/touching story about one of your clients? I had a couple who grew up in Vietnam together as their families were good friends. They immigrated to the United States together but in different locations. They kept in touch and one day they made a connection to each other. They kept that spark going as their careers took them to opposite coasts. They had an ongoing relationship from afar for many years. Then, one day the groom had the opportunity to move back to California and he took it. Within three months they became engaged. They wedded last year after seven years of having a long distance romance. Now that’s love!!!

What’s your favorite comment/compliment that one of your clients has given you? I always get the mother of the bride wishing I was their wedding photographer when they got married. My current brides always speak to the fact that I’m easy going and I take “amazing pictures.”

What’s your favorite local restaurant? I like so many. In my past life, I wined and dined customers so I have literally eaten at every restaurant in Sacramento. I really enjoy Mulvany’s and The Waterboy restaurants.

What’s your favorite local charity? I give my time to community activities. I started the Fair Oaks Lacrosse Club and helped with the starting the league for under high school kids. I coached football and other sports for years. I also give of my time for graduation pictures for the seniors at Sacramento Academic and Vocational Academy.

What is your favorite fun thing to do locally? I love love fly fishing. I go whenever I have a spare minute.

Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? I will go to Starbucks a little more than I need to. I am behind my computer all day so it’s nice to speak to real humans during the day when I’m not shooting.

Do you have any hidden talents? Not that I know of – it’s hidden right?

If you were to plan your own wedding, or re-do your wedding, what elements would be most important to you? Of course, the photography. The memories last a lifetime!

What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Communicate and respect one another.

Anything else you’d like to share with Real Weddings Magazine’s brides? Thanks for allowing me the medium.
