It’s hard to believe that even nature can be trendy, but when it comes to weddings, anything is possible. The current flowers that brides and florists cannot seem to get enough of are called ranunculus. They most often come as multiple layers of paper-thin petals, which look more like art than nature.

Planning a spring or fall wedding? You’re in luck, these gorgeous bulbs are most widely available in the fall and spring, but can often be ordered throughout the year. Available in a spectrum of colors from white to red, their versatility makes them the perfect wedding flower.

Local florist, Shannon Cosgrove-Rivas of Flourish, says that, “Ranunculus are just like little spring time jewels. Ruffled perfection. They are perfect for weddings because they have a romantic feel.”

The ranunculus we are most familiar with are of the California variety, but our friends at Bloem Décor say they enjoy using imported Japanese Ranunculus, “Because they are quite a bit larger and have a wonderful soft elegant feel.”

They’re so beautiful, they’re ranunculus. (See what we did there?)
