Growing up in Southern California, I have a special affinity towards Palm Springs. The playful oasis about two hours outside Los Angeles has drawn warm (often down right blazing hot) weather fans to mid-century modern poolsides and golf courses surrounded by majestic desert hills for decades. And blessed with wonderful weather (well, the summers can get a little toasty) it makes for a fantastic Real Weddings Magazine Mini-Moon option!
Recommended Resort: The Parker Palm Springs. In the spirit of the Hollywood elite that have dipped their toes in Palm Spring’s pools since the golden days, The Parker Palm Springs recaptures some of that retro glamour with a decidedly modern twist thanks to interior designer Jonathan Adler.
With blasts of pink and orange and a collection of whimsical pottery, furniture and chotchkies scattered around the property, Adler supplies plenty of eye candy from corner to corner.
Best of all, the Parker grounds are HUGE, making for a variety of outdoor spaces, perfect for a sunset ceremony. There are elegant sporting games to enjoy like croquet, pétanque, and tennis, a fire pit surrounded by a circle of modern chairs and plenty of fragrant garden paths through which you can leisurely wander.
Check in: The Parker Palm Springs, 4200 East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. 760-770-5000.
Check Out: The bungalows…each of the bungalows lists a first name on the door, chosen for celebrity visitors, or so I was told…Brad, Tom – you get the idea. There are two outdoor pools for guests in addition to the two located in the spa PSYC, a haven for relaxation, beauty and fitness.
Don’t Miss: The eats…dining options vary from “five-star diner” Norma’s to the poolside Lemonade Stand to decadent offerings at the retro fabulous Mr. Parkers. All I can say is “yum.”
