The mountains need hardly be a winter-exclusive getaway. With the summer sun shining, rivers flowing and the aromatic scent of pine in the air, your next mini-moon might be in Cle Elum. Cle Elum?? On the sunny eastern slopes of Washington’s Cascades, this area hosts the Suncadia Resort, an ideal combination of outdoor adventure and indoor luxury.
Not even a decade old, this beautiful resort neighbors a 1,200-arce conservancy along the Cle Elum River. Beginning with the inn, and adding a lodge, spa and golf course in recent years, Suncadia welcomes you to breathe deep and enjoy all that good ol’ fresh air.
Recommended Resort: Suncadia Resort. About 80 miles east of Seattle, Suncadia enjoys a remote, pristine wilderness setting. There are a few accommodation options for guests: The Lodge at Suncadia, a full-service luxury condominium lodge hotel and conference center overlooking the Cle Elum River; The Inn at Suncadia, an elegant mountain inn overlooking the Prospector golf course; and custom vacation rental homes.
Also diverse are the dining options, like fresh artesian fare at Portals Restaurant, tasting plates and handcrafted local wines and microbrews at Fifty Degrees, and the relaxing twilight views of the Canary Grill.
Check In: 3600 Suncadia Trail in Cle Elum, WA. 866-904-6301, suncadiaresort.com.
Check Out: Glad Spring Spa. It’s only appropriate that a spa set in such a gorgeous wooden landscape would model their treatments and amenities after nature. Outdoor sanctuaries of warm pools and flowing creeks merge with rooms that bring the surrounding gardens and glades, forest and mountain views inside.
The Spa’s mountain glades offer four hot outdoor mineral baths of varying soothing temperatures, meandering creeks, rustic saunas, outdoor treatment decks, natural walking paths, and fireside areas for relaxing. The glades feature a private women’s garden, complete with a hot outdoor mineral bath and sauna.
Highlights from the menu include Vichy Express, exfoliation using a state-of-the-art honeycombed mitt combined with Red Flower botanical florals and bio-active honey cleansing agents, followed by the Vichy showers, and the Flower and Honey Fusion Scrub, a combination of exfoliation with organic sea salt and floral infused oils followed by Vichy showers and finishing with a full body massage application of nutritious floral infused body oils and lotions.
Don’t Miss: The great outdoors. Though a four-season resort, Summer and Fall are two of the best seasons to experience the area. There are numerous Washington State hiking trails available on property as well as hundreds of trails in the Wenatchee and Teannaway National Forest.
Enjoy the more than 10 miles of paved paths and countless miles of scenic trails to explore throughout Suncadia. They provide a variety of recreational mountain bikes, cruisers, youth bikes for all ages, trailers and trail-a-long bike extensions. Rent a boat for a leisurely paddle on the lake, or try your hand at fly-fishing the “Blue Ribbon” trout waters of the Yakima, home to Rainbows, Cutthroats, good hatches and gorgeous scenery.
