Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  Jason and I met in Vegas in May of 2006. Given I was living in Vancouver, Canada at the time and Jason in Lake Tahoe, California, a long distance romance pursued. It would not take much time however, for Jason and me to realize that that which we had found was very special. And so in March of 2007, I moved to Lake Tahoe to be with Jason.

During the time proceeding our wedding day, we enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) many a great adventure together. With a love for traveling, the outdoors and learning about new cultures, we ventured to the likes of the UK, South Africa (my birth place), and numerous places in the USA and Canada, enjoying activities such as road biking, shark cage diving, going on safari, kayaking, going to the symphony, skiing, and hiking.

In fact, it was after a hike on a beautiful, desolated beach in the Redwood Forest area of California, that Jason would propose. In keeping with our various passions, our wedding would therefore take place on the beaches of our home, the beautiful Lake Tahoe.

What was the most amazing part of your day?  Everything was amazing! There is nothing we would change.

What else would you like to share about your big day?  In a sense, our wedding was a destination wedding to a great number of our guests. Numerous family members, members of the bridal party and (childhood) friends would look to make their way to Lake Tahoe from the likes of Vancouver, Canada, the UK, South Africa, the Midwest, Colorado and several other places in the USA. And so we were truly honoured to have had so many people make such a considerable effort to join us on this special day! We are very blessed!

Reception Venue:   The beach grounds of Camp Richardson (with special thanks to Mai Dalton) would not only provide for our Wedding ceremony and reception venue, but also provide lodging in the form of rustic cabins and hotel rooms, for all our out-of-town guests during the week leading up to the big event. The location thus allowed us to maximize quality time spent with our family and friends given we were all at one location – it was perfect!

Cake:  My sister, Michelle Meyer, and her fiance, Jason Harris, both chef’s for the Fairmont Hotel group in Vancouver, designed and created our beautiful three-tier wedding cake.

Flowers:  Our gifted friends, Molly Ferry and Amy Roberts, were responsible for creating and assembling our beautiful bouquets.

Favors:  We wanted to give both our guests and bridal party members gifts that would provide enjoyment beyond our wedding Day. And so, to the gents with whom Jason played rugby in graduate school, South African Rugby jersey’s were presented. For the ladies, we approached a local artist to design and create jewelery that would celebrate each one’s individual personality. And finally, we presented specially designed pint glasses (the design created by Jason and myself, marking the special day) to all our guests.

Wedding Dress:  Maggie Sottero Dress – Style Allison Marie

Bridesmaid Dresses:  Ann Taylor Celebrations Collection

Hair:  Simplicity Salon in South Lake Tahoe provided for my and (if so desired) several of the ladies up-dos.

Make-up:  Combined efforts by myself and my sister, Michelle Meyer.

Invitations:  Living in the likes of Lake Tahoe makes one appreciate how precious and scarce our natural resources truly are. As a result, we tried to incorporate as many eco-friendly touches into our celebrations as possible.

One of those touches pertained to our wedding Invitations. We opted not to send out paper invitations, but instead utilize our wedding Web site (powered by Wedding Windows) to send out electronic invitations. The approach worked extremely well for us especially given the fact we needed to relay information to so many people literally all over the world!

We did however create paper programs for our wedding ceremony. For some traditions should always remain in place!

DJ/Entertainment:  DJ Dave (Berkman)! A local favorite who proved to be awesome!

Honeymoon Location:  Cabo San Lucas

Any other vendor you’d like to call out?  Maggi at Event Masters and Peter of Mountain Magic Catering.

First Dance Song:  Rod Stewart
