Real Weddings – WS08

Congratulations! You’ve met the love of your life and he’s proposed. You’re officially a fiancée on your way to becoming legitimately hitched to your soon-to-be newly anointed! But before you celebrate, it’s time to get fully engaged to the logistics involved with planning the one of the biggest days of your life – the first step to a long and happy marriage.

Someone recently asked me what advice I’d give to a bride-to-be. The answer came rather quickly: Get organized! Seems easy enough, obvious even, but have you ever noticed that the simplest advice is often the last heeded and the toughest to implement? That’s why Sierrastyle Weddings is here – so whatever you do, keep reading.

For the “detail-oriented” brides among us, solidifying wedding details usually goes according to plan (one that is focused and well defined from the get-go). The result of their effort: a stress-free walk down the aisle. Having devised a strategy they followed to the letter, which included minding checklists, meticulous note-taking and accessing a myriad of planning tools; they are fully married to the moment when the moment arrives. For brides who are a little, um, challenged in the details arena, one word (and my second piece of advice): Delegate! Now is the time to assemble an unswerving support system. Enlist the help of reliable friends, who are friendly with particulars and never met a deadline they didn’t like – friends you trust to spend resources wisely, and hire others to be organized on your behalf. This team (and rooting section!) will be your advocate with vendors, and help keep your budget on track so that you are focused on your primary goal: Having the most amazing and enjoyable “big day” ever.

So while you are readying your wedding plans, the Winter/Spring 2008 issue of Sierrastyle Weddings has taken its own vow: to help navigate the murky, sometimes rough, waters of pre-matrimony. It is our continued goal to present you with ideas and inspiration, all with a local flair. In this issue, we bring you the Style Files: A Local Resource Guide, unforgettable honeymoon locales, gifts, and ideas on beauty and etiquette. And, last but not least, we have turned the spotlight on our first-ever cover model finalists: Brenna, Leah and Melissa – all beautiful and intelligent young women who, on a recent autumn day, played dress up, modeling countless beautiful gowns for our fashion layout. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank these ladies, as well as all of our contributing vendors and amazing editorial team for their hard work and contributions. Job well done!

We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we enjoyed producing it! Cheers!
