The Couple: Araya and Alex

Wedding Date: June 16, 2012

Photography by White Daisy Photography

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We first met on a camping trip at Big Sur. Over the course of several years we dated, went on some pretty amazing trips to South Africa and New Zealand, and in 2010 Alex proposed to Araya at Mount Lassen. Araya loves seeing new places and experiencing different cultures while Alex enjoys the beauty of nature and the outdoors. We love being married and the joy and challenges that go along with it.

What was the most amazing part of your day? Seeing Araya for our “first look” before the start of our wedding, was truly amazing. Also, being able to have Araya’s family who are from the Los Angeles, come up to Northern California for a country wedding, was so much fun!!

What else would you like to share about your big day? Our wedding actually set a heat record of 105 degrees in June, but it all worked out, thanks to a few mojitos.

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? (1) Start early, (2) use your fiance (groom), (3) if you make it through the wedding planning…you’re good for marriage!! Also, accept help from family and friends. We could not have done it with our amazing family and friends who spent hours/days helping us out.

Special thanks to the following people for helping us set up: Mike and Kim Judkins; Nat and Tabitha Uy (Nat strung almost a hundred lanterns in the blazing heat!); Timothy Ungarayawong; Cliff and Tiffany Hy; Patrick and Ampawan Sturge; Voramitr and Oraporn Hiranjaruvong; and Nye Unarayawong. Thanks to Vu Do and Alisa Hiranjaruvong for providing dinner the day before for everyone and Louis and Beverly Rabidoux for letting us use their property.

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Nope
