The Couple: Lisa & Tommy

Wedding Date: August 4, 2013

Photography by 5 Finger Photo

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Tommy and I met (funny enough) through my best friend Tee’s persistence. Tee knew Tommy and kept showing me his picture on Myspace. I told her numerous times I was not going on a blind date and especially someone she knew from Myspace. Tee swears she knew he was the one for me so she eventually got sneaky and invited him to a Spin class at the Wellness Center where I work and she taught Spin, before the class she set our bikes up next to each other and looks like she was right, after that Spin class we began our ride into the Sunset! Almost 7 years later I married him on the Beach in San Diego.

What was the most amazing part of your day? I remember thinking as I walked onto the beach “This is exactly how I dreamed it would be!”

What else would you like to share about your big day? My two sons, Cody and Christian, walked me down the sandy aisle. One of my best friends, Debbie Regan-Vance, officiated. My son, Cody Marrero and his girlfriend Maddy, sang “Falling Slowing” for us. Our best friends stood beside us with our parents attending. It was truly a perfect day and the wedding went off without a hitch!

He also shot our engagement moments by tricking me into believing he was at the Yoga studio taking pictures for their website.

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Make it your dream wedding whatever that looks like for you. I always wanted a beach wedding with my closest friends there. It was simple and perfect all at the same time!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? I would definitely hire a videographer. I had a friend video the wedding and something went wrong with the camera and I just got small clips of the ceremony. I really wanted to be able to relive the day through the video…Thank goodness for the pictures. Know where you need to splurge and where you can save. NEVER go cheap on the photos or the video. These are the priceless memories that will last a lifetime!
