Here to inspire you, it’s Real Weddings Wednesday! Today, we present Megan + Colin!
Tell us a little about you and your beloved:
Colin and I were introduced through my high school Musical Theatre/Choir teacher, Adrienne Mars. Colin started building sets for Adrienne in 2009 and they became dear friends. We met in 2016 and Adrienne spent two years trying to set us up… but I was very stubborn! Finally we started dating after Adrienne basically tricked me into getting drinks with him in July of 2018. We had the best first date ever; we closed the restaurant down talking all night. Then in November Colin was my date to my sister’s wedding and that’s when he told me he loved me and that he was going to marry me. We booked our wedding venue on December 2nd and then Colin proposed on December 24th at California Adventure in front of the waterfalls with my family watching. We did things out of order, but we wouldn’t change a thing! We planned the entire wedding together… Colin is an amazing and very organized planner!
What was the best part of your day?
Finally being married!
What else would you like to share about your day?
The rustic barn setting for the reception and the large grass area for the ceremony made it so no one had to travel from ceremony to the reception venue. We did a cocktail hour outside until it was time to go inside the barn for the party!
Any advice you’d give to couples planning their wedding right now?
Do what YOU want—it’s your day! Don’t let any other people pressure you into doing things you don’t want to do. It’s just about the two of you.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?
Wish we could’ve spent more time visiting with our family and friends—it goes so fast! But we wouldn’t change a thing. It really was perfect!
