Tell us a little about you and your beloved.

It was a modern love story:x Kyle swiped right, Tiara swiped right, and it was a match! After several weeks of texting, Tiara and Kyle made plans to meet up for dinner. It was on this first date that they found out that they grew up just four miles apart and probably met while Tiara was working at the local Yogurtland (although she doesn’t think so, since she probably would’ve remembered a guy as handsome as Kyle). After a whirlwind of dates consisting of kayaking, dining out, wine tastings, hikes, and nights in watching the their favorite shows, it wasn’t long before Tiara and Kyle said “I love you” for the first time under a sky of fireworks after running the Reykjavik half marathon in Iceland. Fast forward several months and in the summer of 2020, they moved in to their first apartment together in Foster City with their perfect puppy, Arlow. In January of 2022, during a fun-filled day of cross-country skiing in Truckee, Kyle and Tiara stopped for lunch in a beautiful mountain valley. While unpacking their lunch, Kyle knelt down on one knee and asked her to marry him and Tiara said yes!

What was the best part of your day?

Having all of our loved ones from throughout our lives there together to celebrate such a special moment with us. It was so heart-warming to see everyone we loved together all at the same place at the same time. We shared so many special moments throughout the day spending time with our friends and family and as everyone says, couldn’t believe how quickly it flew by. We love to dance and let loose so if we HAD to pick the most amazing part of the day, tearing it up on the dance floor with our friends and family is top of mind.

What else would you like to share about your big day?

Recognition of our amazing vendors! Our wedding planner made the whole day flow so smoothly and we felt like our guests definitely felt this as much as we did. We had so much fun hanging out with our amazing photographer, Liz and her assistant, KABOO, for our sunset photos after the ceremony. Our DJ was also amazing! DJ John Piazza was soooo good at getting everyone up and dancing. Our photo booth vendor was also a hit of the night. So many of our guests had a blast taking goofy pictures together in the set up that Handsome Photo Booth organized. They were great to work with and even provided us with a photo album filled with duplicates of all of the photo booth pictures that our friends and family took together. It is so fun to go through and relive the night. We felt so grateful to have such a killer team that made our event everything we could have envisioned it would be.

Advice from the couple:

Vet/research several vendors before you make a decision. Even though it’s a lot of time and energy, we feel this was a critical part of the process. Select vendors that you feel a good connection with and that seem organized and on top of the details! It was also important for us to do this to ensure we were going with vendors that fit our budget. As a couple, we also started out the planning process by getting on the same page about our top priorities for what we cared most about for our wedding day: For us it was dancing (a great DJ), maximizing time spent with our guests, and making sure the entire day with documented well with beautiful photos that matched the aesthetic we hoped for. Deciding these things really helped us make decisions in terms of where our money went towards the event. It’s easy to get stressed in the wedding planning process when you get into the weeds of all of the decisions that you need to make, and coordinating/executing those decisions, but having our wedding planner certainly helped relieve some of this stress and was certainly all worth it on the day of. We felt like in the end, all that hard work was worth it! We had a blast at our wedding and we felt like it was definitely due to a combined effort of our time and energy along with our amazing vendors going above and beyond.

Anything you would have done differently?

Unfortunately, we had a little hiccup with our bus transportation vendor – they were late picking up our guests resulting in our wedding starting 40 minutes behind schedule which was a bummer, but c’est la vie! This was minor in the grand scheme of things. If we were to do it again, I think we would have just had the hotel that we did a block with since they provided this service for a just slightly more than the vendor we ended up going with. In the end it would have been smoother and I think the service they offered would have been more professional and on time.
