Wedding Date: August 10, 2013
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Josh and I met on a blind date when we were 14 years old. We instantly became best friends and did everything together.
After graduating high school, I moved to Virginia for college and Josh stayed in Sacramento to pursue his dreams of becoming a firefighter. The four years that I was in Virginia were extremely hard, but we always seemed to put each other first. After receiving my bachelors degree I moved back to Sacramento to be closer to Josh.
On our nine year anniversary of dating, Josh and I took a trip to San Francisco to celebrate. Josh took me to the restaurant The Cliff House, which was the restaurant chain we went to on our first anniversary of dating when we were 15 years old. He got down on one knee on the beach at sunset. We both couldn’t be happier to open the next chapter of our lives together.
We instantly started planning our wedding. We found a beautiful outdoor ceremony site at The Forest House Lodge. This was the perfect place for us because we wanted to have one big party for our family and friends. Plus, the lodge is amazing at planning weddings!
What was the most amazing part of your day? It is super hard to pick one part of our day, but we loved having our moment of dancing to Brad Paisley’s “Then” on our first dance. We definitely felt the love and the support in the room as we danced to a song that has so much meaning for us.
What else would you like to share about your big day? I walked down the aisle with both my dad and stepdad, who have helped shape me into the woman I am today. It meant a lot to me to share this moment with both of them and to have their blessing on my marriage.
At the reception, we danced until midnight and partied until 2 a.m. with all our close family and friends. It’s definitely a night we will never forget!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? First book your venue and everything else will just falls into place. Stay organized and set a timeline for yourself.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? I wish I would have not been so concerned with having little decorations here and there. I felt like I needed to have a sign for everything. Ha, ha.
