Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We met at Sacramento State. Brett was on the track and field team and Katie was on the gymnastics team. Brett proposed a few years after graduating from college.

All of our closest friends were with us in Lake Tahoe for our annual New Years Eve trip when Brett surprised me by getting on one knee! We both knew we wanted to come back to Sacramento to get married. After a long search, we found the beautiful Sterling Hotel in downtown Sacramento.

What was the most amazing part of your day? The most amazing part of the day was when we saw each other for the first time walking down the aisle. We chose not to do a first look and when we both locked eyes for the first time that day, it was pure joy and love.

What else would you like to share about your big day? It was truly one of the best day of our lives. When both our families came together and joined in to help our photographer and venue staff, they created a day that was almost like a dream. Each piece of the puzzle came together to create a masterpiece – we couldn’t have chosen a better venue staff or photographer to capture and host our wonderful day.

First Dance Song: “Thinking Out Loud” covered by Boyce Avenue

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. The last thing you will remember when you are dancing to your first song is what color napkins you picked out. As long as you are surrounded by family and friends, the day will be one you remember forever. Your wedding day goes by extremely fast so enjoy every moment of it!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Hiring a videographer. In addition to our wonderful photographer, there were a moments that we would of loved to re-live through a video; particularly our first dance, the wedding speeches and dancing the night away.
