How did you meet?

We actually met at the funeral of a music professor that we had both studied with at University of Pacific, Dr. Eric Hammer.

When did you become engaged, and how?

We got engaged in April 2024 in Carmel, California!

While planning the wedding, was there anything in particular you knew you wanted for the day?

We wanted to make sure that had fun and didn’t miss out on anything!

How did planning go?

It was so fun to be creative and plan this event for our friends, family, and us to enjoy!

What was the biggest challenge of wedding planning?

We’re both very busy so it was hard to fit wedding planning into our schedules, but we took our time and did as much as we could in advance.

How would you describe the ceremony?

Our ceremony was a combination of traditional and new that reflected us as a couple. It was held at Morris Chapel at the University of the Pacific. We are both alumni of the Conservatory of Music at UOP and we met on campus, so it was very special for us to get married there. Our ceremony was officiated by our friend and mentor, Dr. Ruth Brittin, Professor of music and Director of Music Education at UOP. Our grandmas were able to travel from Washington and Wisconsin to be there. We were so lucky to be surrounded by our amazing friends and family.

Any memorable moments from your reception?

My mom’s family is Irish-American and I play Irish traditional music, so we had some of our friends and fellow musicians play Irish traditional music at our cocktail hour.

Any funny or unexpected wedding moments that happened throughout the day?

Bobby is a junior (he and his dad have the same name), and they accidentally mixed up their garment bags when picking them up. There was a bit of panic when neither of their suits fit but realized what had happened, and it all worked out!

What was the best part of your day?

Bobby: My favorite part was seeing Alex walk down the aisle surrounded by all of our friends and family. My other favorite part was the speeches.

Alex: My favorite part was Dr. Brittin’s opening remarks, and our vows.

What was your favorite detail from your wedding day?

Bobby: I loved seeing all of the details and elements of our wedding day captured in Karissa’s photographs.

Alex: I loved seeing all the results of all of our planning and decision making. It was so beautiful and rewarding to see it all!

Our photographer, Karissa from Karissa Wright Photography, was so amazing! She and her fellow photographer Marielle were kind, patient, and clearly excellent at what they do! It was so great to work with them!

Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?

I think everyone had a lot of fun! The dance floor was packed!

Advice from the couple:

Pick one or two things that you really care a lot about and spend your time, energy, and money making sure that those things are how you want them to be. Try not to agonize over the other decisions that you don’t care that much about.
