Aubree and Mathew met while working in the medical field. After dating long-distance, fate would have it that a position where Mathew worked opened up, and Aubree moved so they could be together. Aubree, a radiation therapist and radiation oncology supervisor, relocated to be with Mathew, a medical dosimetrist; currently, they work together at a cancer center in Marysville. Mathew describes his bride as organized and loving, and Aubree calls Mathew understanding and patient, all attributes that are essential when it comes to planning a wedding.

The bride wanted a simple, classic and comfortable wedding, one in which she incorporated unique and special touches. Her bouquet of fabric flowers had her grandmother’s vintage buttons sewn into it, establishing a subtle theme throughout. Invitations were embossed with button designs; their wedding cake included sugar buttons; even the reception place cards donned buttons, tying the event together. The bride loved adding personal touches to the day. Aubree recalls one of those especially sentimental touches, a gift she gave to Mathew at their first look. “[It] was so special. I had a pin with a photo of Mathew’s parents made. He didn’t know about it. Seeing his reaction to the gift made my heart melt.” The groom’s parents had passed away, and having this beautiful reminder of them was the perfect way to honor and include them.

In a simple ceremony, Mathew walked down the aisle with Aubree’s mother and the bride walked with her father. She kissed her parents and met her groom at the altar. The pair chose their siblings as their wedding party, Aubree’s sister serving at matron of honor and Mathew’s brother as best man. Vows were sweetly exchanged at the River Highlands Ranch & Vineyards on a gorgeous summer day. With passed hors d’oeuvres and a plated dinner, guests celebrated the matrimony of Aubree and Mathew amidst long wooden tables topped with peony-filled Mason jars and accents of mossy green, pink and ivory.

The bride recalls their wedding day saying, “It goes by so fast that I couldn’t imagine missing any of it being stressed.” The couple also offers advice to soon-to-be-married couples: “Remember you are marrying your best friend and that should make every moment enjoyable and exciting.“

Following their joyous union, the newlyweds opted for a non-traditional honeymoon, albeit just as fun. They went on a cruise to Alaska and had six of their closest friends and family members accompany them, so the celebrating continued at sea.
