Any Special Dances?
I had them play my parents’ wedding song “Danny’s Song” by Kenny and Messina.
While planning the wedding, was there anything in particular you knew you wanted for the day?
I knew I wanted an outdoor, country themed, spring wedding. Probably the only thing I insisted on. I’m fairly easygoing and open to ideas which I think makes planning a wedding much easier. My only expectation was that I wanted it to be fun for both of us! We only get married once and there is a stigma that weddings are always so stressful but I think it’s how you approach it that makes the experience.
How would you describe the ceremony?
We had a very short and sweet ceremony. We wanted it to the point; we didn’t necessarily want a lengthy ceremony. We would rather everyone be able to get to the reception and start enjoying themselves than sit through an hour ceremony. And that’s what we got a lot of compliments on—people say they liked how short our ceremony was.
Any vendor(s) you'd like to rave about?
Our photographer was amazing, we had so much fun with her, and couldn’t be more pleased with our photos.
The DJ was very thorough with the set up and making sure he played all our requests. He even made a playlist so we can listen to all the songs played at our wedding (which I thought was a great touch).
Olive & Bloom did amazing with the florals and she was in my wedding on top of that, so she had her hands full that day, and it was perfect!
My hair and makeup was exactly what I wanted–they did such a good job!
What was the best part of your day?
Bride: Walking down the aisle and seeing Austin’s face. I’m not sure why, probably all the adrenaline and excitement of the day, but I was so nervous leading up to the start of the ceremony, but the second I saw Austin I was calm.
Also, after the ceremony, Austin and I walked back to the barn and had a couple moments alone. Austin looked at me and said, “We’re married! You’re officially my wife!” It was so sweet!
Austin: Without a doubt, seeing my bride for the first time in her wedding dress. She looked absolutely stunning, as usual, but even more stunning in her dress.
Advice from the Couple
It’s okay to have something specific that is important for you to have on your wedding day. Know what that is and have that be your one non-negotiable. Have a vision of what you want but be open to different ways of achieving that. Don’t be afraid to DIY or borrow pieces–it can be a life saver on your budget. And have fun! It’s your wedding, and I know everyone says it, but it goes by so fast so enjoy it.
