How did you meet?
We met at a Yogurt shop where I work working and John would stop in often.
When did you become engaged, and how?
We got engaged at Disneyland in October.
#CeremonyGoals
We’re both shy so opted for a ceremony where our officiant spoke the most. I was nervous it might not feel personal but I was wrong! Our officiant, Meghan, sent us each a questionnaire, which we both answered privately. She then crafted a script that felt so personal—sharing bits and pieces of our feelings toward each another and our love story.
Biggest Challenge
My wedding planners were great and handled most things for me, but I am a mom of a very busy seven year old. It was hard for me to find time to sit down and make solid decisions for this once in a life time moment.
Special Moment
A favorite moment was seeing our daughter in her flower girl dress.
We opted out of a wedding cake and got our daughter—whose birthday was a week after the wedding—a unicorn cake instead, so the whole family could sing “Happy Birthday” to her during the reception.
What was your favorite detail from your wedding day?
Our “Love Before Us” table was so fun and interactive for our guests. We displayed old wedding pictures of friends and family’s weddings.
Unexpected Moment
The rain in the morning was expected but the snow was a complete shock. We went with it, however, and got some beautiful wedding pictures and video footage with the drama of the snow falling!
Special Song
First Dance: “Speechless” by Kolohe Kai
What was the best part of your day?
John: The pivotal turning point in the weather. Hours before the scheduled ceremony time, we were covered in rain and then snow with what seemed like no end in sight. Our guests were holed up in their cars in the venue parking lot riding out the storm. Our wedding planners were working on a backup plan. Then, just 20-30 minutes before the ceremony, the clouds parted and the sun came out. It made the ceremony that much more memorable.
Denise: Finally getting to the end of the aisle to marry my person in front of all of the people we love.

Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?
I’m sure they will always remember how the weather was absolutely wild, and then miraculously cleared up for us to walk down the aisle with the sun beaming down on us.
Advice from the couple:
Get a planner or a day-of coordinator! We would have felt so defeated without ours.
What would you have done differently if you had the chance?
Probably had an indoor option available, in case of emergency.
