How did you meet?

We met in September 2020 through Bumble. We had a social distance date in Dolores Park with Liz’s dog, Lola.

When did you get engaged, and how?

We got engaged in May 2022 when Veronica proposed to Liz on a foggy hike near the golden gate bridge. Liz surprised Veronica by proposing back with a ring she had been carrying with her for several months, for this exact moment.

#WeddingGoals

We really wanted it to feel like an intimate glimpse into our lives in San Francisco. We also wanted bright, whimsical wildflowers and lots of color.

How did the planning go? Favorite time? Worst moment?

We enjoyed planning the wedding for the most part, Liz especially enjoyed designing all of the stationery, the escort cards, and choosing vintage stamps for the envelopes. The worst part was the month leading up to the wedding, when all of the details felt overwhelming.

What was the biggest challenge of wedding planning?

Probably the last month before the wedding, feeling the pressure of all of the logistics coming together.

#CeremonyGoals

We had our dog, Lola, come down the aisle in a decorated wagon. She is our princess so it was very fitting. She was pulled by our flower girl, Eva, which was very special. Our close friend officiated the ceremony and we had another close friend read a poem by Frida Kahlo.

Any memorable moments from your reception? Toasts? Fun dances? Performances?

Veronica’s dad and brother gave incredible speeches, people still bring them up to this day. We played “Copacabana” in honor of our dog Lola and she was in the center of the dance floor for that song.

Any Special Cultural Features?

Veronica is half Mexican so we tried to have subtle nods to that heritage throughout the ceremony including Papel Picado table numbers, Mexican dishes for dinner, churros for dessert, and Latin music throughout the night. There also may have been a bottle of tequila floating around the dance floor.

Funny Moment

We made friendship bracelets for everyone at the wedding. Some of them were inside jokes and some of them were just random funny words. Our guests loved them so much and spent the whole night trading them with each other.

What was the best part of your day?

Liz: Hearing Veronica’s vows which had everyone emotional. We both loved dinner and spending the meal at a table with our closest friends while looking out at all of our guests enjoying themselves.

Veronica: Favorite part was after dinner when we changed outfits and danced the rest of the night with all of our friends.

Liz’s Favorite Detail

I loved the flowers so much, they were exactly what I had envisioned. I collected bud vases of all different colors and shapes from thrift stores for over a year and the florist used them all to create the centerpieces. At the end of the night guests were able to take home a vase of flowers.

Veronica’s Favorite Detail

I loved the escort cards that Liz made, which were Pantone cards with a specific color assigned to each person based on their personality.

#VendorRaves

Our photographer and planner were both incredible and worked together seamlessly.

Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?

I think our guests will most remember all of our personalized touches, like the friendship bracelets and escort cards. We also think they will remember Lola’s incredible entrance and outfit.

Advice from the couple:

Putting thought and time into the little personal touches are what will make the day special and what people remember.

What would you have done differently if you had the chance?

Nothing—it was a perfect day and weekend.
