How did you meet?
We met six years on College Avenue in Berkeley, CA while we were attending college at UC Berkeley. We bumped into each other in a kitchen at a friends apartment and started dating a couple weeks later.
When did you get engaged, and how?
We got engaged at the top of a hike called Dog Mountain in Oregon. Clayton asked me to get married at the top with a ring and our dog, Berkeley, was there with a new collar that said “Will you marry me?”
#WeddingGoals
We wanted everyone to have a fun time, drink great booze, eat yummy food, enjoy each other’s company
and dance the night away!
How would you describe the wedding?
The ceremony had a romantic and personal feeling. We got married at my childhood home under a willow tree I had planted with my dad when I was five years old, 21 years before, so it was very sentimental and sweet. My parents had planted beautiful blooming flowers and plants all around the ceremony site, which gave it a really special feeling of love being surrounded by beautiful nature along with all of our incredible friends and family.
Memorable Moments
So many! It was such a special feeling to have all of our best friends and our amazing families together under one tent. It really felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring all of the people we love so much, look up to and cherish, and have the most fun with, together for one night. People flew in from other states and countries, and it meant the world to us to have them all there. Indescribable how thankful
we are for our friends and family. But some of our most favorite moments of the day were:
Groom getting hoisted into the air by all of his friends.
All of our cousins’ kids dancing and getting
on people’s shoulders.
The mother of the groom and Clayton did a fun surprise mother-son dance—a mashup of fun songs and they had choreographed an entire dance.
#VendorRaves
Danielle was an incredible photographer, the most professional and kind human with great energy and talent. Heather, our wedding coordinator, was professional, kind, easygoing and kept the party running smoothly all day long. Mike, our DJ, was incredibly upbeat and worked together with Heather to keep everyone dancing and the flow of the party running smoothly all night. They are such a great team!
Unexpected Moment
We did 10 minutes of sunset pictures – the wedding was out in the country and we ended up being joined by the neighbors cute little alpacas and pig and got some pictures with the farm animals which was a fun unexpected moment we got to have.
Ellie’s Best Part
Dancing and being surrounded by all of our friends and family. Everyone was happy and had such fun energy which made me feel really lucky and happy.
Clayton’s Best Part
The ceremony and vows exchange with all our friends and family there.
Advice from the couple:
