How did you meet?
A double-date trip through a mutual friend.
When did you become engaged, and how?
We attend a regular class on options trading. Donell proposed on stage during the class.
#WeddingGoals
Juliet: I did not have any expectations.
Donell: The officiant, flowers, and unique colored formal wear.
How did planning go? Best moment? Worst moment?
Planning went well. Juliet was laid back while the groom was meticulous. Favorite time for the bride was dress shopping. Favorite time for the groom was discovering I knew the vocal artist with the live band.
What was the biggest challenge of wedding planning?
The guest list for sure! Accepting last minute cancellations.
How would you describe the ceremony?
The pastor knew us. He was very personal. That was great for the family to witness. The pastor added a song for the keyboardist to play which was a special surprise.
Memorable Moments
The speeches were 100% the best part of the reception. This allowed both families to learn who the bride and groom were. You could feel a sigh of relief in the room and the acceptance of our union after each speech was finished. In additional, our First dance was flawless.
What was the best part of your day?
Donell: Watching my bride walk down the aisle; hearing the personal touch from our officiant, along with his surprise song to us; and performing our first dance with no mistakes.
Juliet: Walking into the reception for the first time and seeing how beautifully decorated it was; seeing all our guests having a great time; the phenomenal food (especially since I’m a pescatarian); and the emcee and live band (they put on a perfect vibe for the event). Walking down the aisle, seeing my husband and son.
Any special dances?
“The Wobble”
Special Songs
First Dance: “Lay Low” by BLK ODYSSY and Bnxn
Bouquet Toss: “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé
Garter Toss Song: “Shopping Spree” by Davido ft. Chris Brown & Young Thug
What was your favorite detail from your wedding day?
Juliet: Reading my vows, and giving my husband THREE CHOICES OF RINGS TO PICK FROM!
Donell: My wife giving me three options of rings to choose from–this was a surprise!
#VendorRaves
Philippe from Philippe Studio Pro was amazing, highly recommended! Embellish Floral was phenomenal. The cake from Something Sweet Bakery was excellent and highly recommended. Wine & Roses was the perfect venue and the officiant, Zachary at True Vine Ministries, made the day extra special by adding a song during the ceremony.
Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?
The vows, the first dance, and the food.
Advice from the couple:
The registry was worth it! After creating your seating chart, purchase thank-you notes and fill them out in advance. Leave empty space to thank people for the gifts they send, but have their address and a general message already written out, so you can simply put the in the mail and be done with it. The groom should have somebody ready to clean lipstick off their face to prepare for pictures.
What would you have done differently if you had the chance?
Filled out the thank you cards in advance. Have a firmer RSVP date one month before the event.
