How would you describe the ceremony?
Our ceremony was very laid back. Our officiant pieced together everything on his end and we did our own personal vows. My husband recited a poem right before his vows that was a total joke and so true to his nature to make everyone laugh.
Any memorable moments from your reception?
Throughout the day, we had a few people close to us come up and say very heartfelt things to us in private. It was very special to us for those things to be said away from the crowd.
Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?
Hands down, my husband’s poem! And then the reception. So many people told us in the weeks following that our DJ was their favorite. Also, the food. The Holbrooke Hotel has impeccable food.
What was the best part of your day?
Both of us agreed that, to us, it was watching everyone else have so much fun.
Advice from the Couple
Don’t cut corners, go all out where you can. The details do matter; let yourself obsess over all the intricacies as much as you want. Delegate tasks to people who want to help, and as always, set aside time with your new spouse on your wedding day.
What would you have done differently if you had the chance?
Hire a planner. And do the extra things that I talked myself out of because it didn’t feel necessary.
