Sacramento Weddings

When Kayla’s best friend Cassidy moved to another state, she found herself at Cassidy’s parents’ house quite often to help during times when she missed her best friend. The quick visits soon turned longer, as Kayla began spending time with Cassidy’s brother, Andrew. Kayla felt she was breaking “girl code” by falling for her best friend’s brother, but Cassidy was in full support of the relationship, which quickly blossomed.

Once their relationship grew serious, Kayla told Andrew that if he were to propose, she would love for it to be at a new, exciting place where she’d never been before. On her birthday, Andrew planned a last-minute trip to Yosemite, yet she didn’t suspect anything. When they finally arrived, however, Kayla’s suspicions were high. There were countless moments when Andrew would grab Kayla’s hands and say, “Kayla, I love you,” then walk away, leaving Kayla disappointed. It happened so many times on the trip that it became a funny joke in Kayla’s mind. Right when she had completely dismissed the whole idea of a proposal, it happened.

Three months and one day later, they were married.

Kayla had already done a lot of wedding planning long before her and Andrew even talked about getting married, but she was surprised to learn how much of a say Andrew wanted in each decision. It was a welcomed surprise—after all, it was their wedding day. Kayla relied on her garage sale savviness to help with budget-friendly décor and—with a bit of assistance from their friends and coordinator—made their own floral arrangements and boutonnieres.

The charming wedding included many unique touches, including a feet-washing ceremony where Kayla and Andrew took turns washing one another’s feet. The gesture was symbolic of serving one another for the rest of their lives.

In a matter of months, with some resourcefulness and creativity, Kayla and Andrew put together an anything-but-ordinary wedding. They kept the celebration going with a mini-moon followed shortly by a traditional honeymoon. A double-moon? We like that!
