Any vendor(s) you'd like to rave about?
Our photographer, Katelyn Bradley! What a trooper. She has been our go-to for all our big evens these last couple years. She was so helpful with rescheduling our stuff due to COVID. Incredibly understanding and just a wonderful human all around.
How would you describe the ceremony?
Our ceremony was quirky. Sean’s best friend from middle school was our officiant. He is a jokester and honestly I was looking forward to him being our officiant because I am an emotional person and I didn’t want to cry (makeup artists are expensive!). His jokes had everyone laughing; he even had us wear boxing gloves at one point. I would definitely say the experience was unique and unforgettable.
Any memorable moments?
Our whole reception was memorable. We had tarot read by our DJ which just fit the whole mood of our wedding. Most of our wedding guests were in Halloween costumes and rocked out to Monster Mash and Thriller. My dad’s toast was so incredibly touching and made me cry. During our last song we had a straight movie moment and all our guests surrounded us in a big swaying circle while Sean and I danced (and maybe cried). The amount of love in that room was palpable.
What was the best part of your day?
Sean: When we were lined up right before walking into the ceremony. I looked at Kayla and asked, “We ready?” In that moment, knowing we were about to walk together and do this in front of our family/friends, it felt more real than ever and I couldn’t imagine wanting to do this with anyone else.
Kayla: I have two…I would agree that same moment was one of the most memorable for me as well. After not seeing Sean all day, finally seeing him in his suit (looking dashing I might add). Taking that brief moment to just breath and reflect on what we were about to do. Surrounded by the most important people in our lives. It was so powerful.
I would also have to say our last dance too. Something about feeling like the only two people in the room while also being encircled by all of our family and friends. It was such a moving moment. It completely brought me to tears because in that moment I felt so full of love. My cup was full and overflowing.
Advice from the Couple
Be yourself. I had a lot of doubts about the decisions I was making when I was planning a wedding for what felt like others and not myself. When I trusted myself to create the wedding of my dreams it turned into such a joyful experience.
What would you have done differently if you had the chance?
Honestly…I wouldn’t have limited my decorations. I was so worried I was going to be that bride with way too much stuff, and when I met with our day-of coordinator she told me I had barely anything compared to other brides. I would have decked that place out with Halloween decorations! Also…eat more of the food! So many people told us how good the food was and I wish we had taken more time to enjoy it.
