How did COVID affect your wedding?
Our original wedding, the one I had been planning for close to a year. The one that would keep me awake at night as we got closer because I would be dreaming of the little moments that would happen with my husband surrounded by all the people we love. The one where all of our family was supposed to be there. The one where COVID didn’t royally screw it all up. We had to come to terms with the fact that that one wasn’t going to happen and choose to look at the positives and be happy with the one that WAS going to happen.
Life is all about choices and I am not naive enough to think that I am an exception to that. I had to CHOOSE to look at the positives in our current situation at the time. When you cannot change something you have a couple options. 1) Accept it and let go of the negativity or 2) Continue to obsess over it and make yourself miserable…I’ll tell yea, that miserable state was not somewhere I wanted to be for long.
We made the choice to move forward with the options available to us. Love won! I am so happy to be married to Brett! I am so happy we continued on with our day and feel extremely, EXTREMELY blessed for the friends and family that poured every ounce of energy they had into making it the most special and perfect day we could have ever imagined!
Was there anything in particular you knew you wanted?
We knew we wanted to say our own vows. I knew I wanted the mismatched antique China plates I had been collecting for years with my mom to be used at the wedding.
How would you describe the ceremony?
It was on top of a gorgeous hill of a vineyard surrounded by only immediate family and friends. It was an intimate ceremony and truly such a blessing in disguise!
Any memorable moments?
Having our reception in my parents’ backyard was truly the most memorable moment! My husband made our dance floor out of plywood the day before our wedding. We poured cement into planter barrels to put posts in them and hung string lights over the dance floor/bar area. One of our most memorable moments for both of us was when our DJ played “One Day” by Matisyahu. There was a big group of us that gathered in a circle and sang the lyrics and danced to that song, we absolutely loved it! Also, seeing all of our most loved friends and family there enjoying the evening. They poured so much time and energy into making sure the day was perfect. We are so blessed and appreciative!
