How did you meet?
We met the good old fashioned way: on a dance floor at a bar! We connected pretty instantly but went separate ways. It wasn’t until we ran into each other about a month later by complete chance that we knew something was up.
How was wedding planning?
The planning was relatively smooth. We had a lot of support from friends and family but our cousin Mary kicked some ass in planning our wedding! Mary also did the gorgeous bouquets and boutonnières! Huge shoutout to her. She kept us both calm and collected! Our favorite time planning the wedding was finding our venue, it took some time. We loved our venue so much and knew it was the one immediately! The worst moment was probably choosing colors. And by the worst we mean the most dividing and time consuming. Everything else came as a breeze but whew, it took us a long time to not only find the right colors, but agree on them. Also, having to tell friends they couldn’t bring their kids was hard. Our budget just wouldn’t allow for it and we wanted all the adults to be able to just let loose and party!
Anything in particular you knew you wanted for the day?
Photography was a high priority for us so there were high expectations there. We couldn’t be happier with our photos. We told Danielle they were magazine-worthy! Lighting and mood were really important so we worked a lot on colors and how to achieve the vibe we were going for.
How would you describe the ceremony?
Well, considering the groom had food poisoning from the night before into the morning of the ceremony, it was a bit rough in the beginning. It’s something we laugh about now with friends but that was definitely a unique experience to have the day of your wedding. They always say expect something to go wrong at your wedding and boy did we not expect that! We think that’s why everything else was so perfect. Luckily, once the ceremony actually began, things smoothed over a bit. We loved our officiant, Justin. We met with him a few times prior and the way he worked with us made our vows really unique and personal. In fact, the most common feedback we heard from our guests was how personal and romantic our vows and ceremony were.
Any memorable moments from the day?
We had a lot of fun playing the shoe/question game! We wanted people to feel like when they came to our wedding it felt authentically like us. We thought that game showed our personalities and gave everyone a good laugh! Also, at the end of the night one of the nephews and a groomsmen got into a pretty heated dance battle that was unexpectedly awesome.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Kenna: The best part of our wedding day, for me, was walking toward the aisle, waiting for Ky to turn and seeing the look on face. I wanted to run down the isle towards him. Also, cake.
Ky: One of the best moments for me was sitting at our head table and pausing to take a minute and look around the room. I loved seeing Kenna next to me and looking around the room seeing a culmination of our loved ones celebrating our day with us.
