How did you meet?
At our horse barn—we are both horse people, and board our horses at the same barn!
When did you become engaged, and how?
September 2023, while visiting my hometown across the country on a walk with my parents.
How did planning go? Best moment? Worst Moment?
Relatively smoothly, since my husband works at the venue and knows a lot about the industry. Worst moment was probably finding out my first choice for the ice cream bar was booked that day, but I found another!
Biggest Challenge
Balancing meetings/emails with school, since I was also getting my bachelor’s degree at the same time!
How would you describe the ceremony?
Short and sweet, since it was in the sun in 100 degree weather.
Special Moment
My grandpa was our officiant, and has been the officiant for all of my cousins’ weddings so far. It was nice to be able to keep this tradition going, and he enjoyed being a part of the day!
Memorable Moments
The final dance to “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift. Both of us got very into it as we are both big Swifties and love that song—we had a lot of fun with it!
Any funny or unexpected wedding moments that happened throughout the day?
A super loud car drove by during the ceremony—we all just laughed it off.
Any Special Dances?
Anniversary dance: “At Last” by Etta James
Special Songs:
First Dance: “Lover” by Taylor Swift
Father/Daughter Dance: “The Best Day (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
Mother/Son Dance: “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers
Last Dance: “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
What was the best part of your day – from each spouse’s perspective, please?
Megan: Dancing around with all of my friends and family.
Curtis: Seeing how beautiful my wife looked.
What was your favorite detail from your wedding day?
The backdrop of the ceremony—standing on the stairs with the symmetrical pool and house in the background.
Looking back, what do you think your guests will remember most about your wedding?
The custom cocktails named after our horses.
