Traditional yet fun! We had already been legally married earlier in the pandemic (just immediate family, on the sand under Golden Gate Bridge), so we felt like we could go bold! We both wanted to share vows that were a surprise up until right before, which helped make the whole thing uniquely ‘us’. Our officiant also helped make the whole thing super special; he’s a close friend who worked with us to really tailor the ceremony.
We had a flash mob! This took months and months of prep, and was choreographed by Ryan Sze. It kicked off right after our parents had been introduced at the beginning of the reception, just as we walked in. ‘Tell Me You Love Me’ by Galantis was bumping as three waves of dancers popped up out of the audience. When it was time to wrap, there were balloons flying everywhere and six-foot tall sparklers lighting up the stage!
Wild Flowers Design Group – The Mother/Daughter owners were THE BEST EVER!
Ryan Miller: For me, the best part of the day hands-down was our ceremony. I could hardly keep my eyes dry. I vividly remember standing in back, admiring the beautiful setting with the stunning flowers and waterfalls, and seeing all of our family and friends that were there for one reason only – to celebrate us! It brought me to tears! But at the same time, the drag queens flower girl was running all over place making me laugh!
Ryan Sze: I think for me the best part was being surrounded by friends and family everywhere I turned, which was all day long. Their wonderful words and hugs (since pandemic restrictions had just started being lifted!) absolutely warmed my heart.
Start early and work on it EVERY DAY (just little by little)! We worked on things nearly every night; but it paid off in the end because we had everything covered. Google docs and spreadsheets that you can both work on at the same time are a super useful tool for staying organized.
