The Couple:  Amy and Doug Muraki
Wedding Date:  October 10, 2010

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  We met at work and had no idea that we actually lived only a block away from each other. We became friends and out of that our love grew. Doug proposed at the most unexpected time — while watching Scrubs on the DVR and eating popcorn! It was perfectly “us.”
What was the most amazing part of your day?  The never ending party. Rather than the bride and broom heading off and leaving the party we kept it going all night. Our close friends and some family brought tents. We pulled the center out of the stage we built and had a fire pit. We made hot chocolate, roasted marshmallows and made s’mores. The next morning we all woke up and continued the celebration! Breakfast the morning after with your best friends and closest family — it was amazing!!
What else would you like to share about your big day?  We had a laid back and low budget wedding that turned out beautifully. Many of our friends have said it was the best wedding they have ever attended — but then again, who doesn’t love Beer Pong? We wanted our wedding feel like “us,” not a formal event planned by someone who didn’t know us. We did everything ourselves from the manual work in the yard, flower arrangements and all setup, to cooking breakfast the next morning!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?  Take a breath and relax! Make the event feel like YOU — not what a wedding is supposed to look like. You can plan a beautiful wedding on a tight budget by DIY projects and staying focused.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?  Nothing. It was the most amazing day of my life!
