Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We met through friends of Marc’s and had been dating for 4 and a half years when we got married.  We both immediately knew there was something different about the other when me met. We share a love for sports, craft beer, Tahoe, and cheesy jokes. Marc proposed on a South Lake Tahoe beach. We had spent the afternoon paddle boarding and enjoying our favorite spot. He came in from the water, got down on one knee, and said the sweetest things. The diamond in the engagement ring is Marc’s great grandmother’s. So when he opened up that box, I immediately broke into tears. He picked the setting with both of our families, and he couldn’t have picked something more perfect. We were lucky to have a passerby grab one of our phones and capture the entire moment.  It was truly a day we’ll never forget. It was so special for us both.

The planning process was crazy! We got married two months after our engagement and wanted a small wedding with a small budget.  We were both very thankful to have Karly’s mom and sister there to pull things together so beautifully. We worked down to the night before getting burlap runners cut, tying twine on everything, setting up the ceremony site, and everything else. The day before the wedding, both of our families set up the entire wedding and all the big items. It was a process all of us will always remember.

What was the most amazing part of your day? The ceremony, hands down. We wrote our own ceremony and our own vows. It was just so true to who we are and the love we have for each other. It was very real and very special. Our cousin, the officiant, wrote our whole ceremony in a book and gave it to us at the end of the night. She even dated a couple pages for anniversaries to follow, so we can revisit it and write each anniversary about our marriage.

What else would you like to share about your big day? We kept our wedding small and intimate.  We both have large families, so we only had immediate family members and close friends or ours. We really wanted our day to be a reflection of our relationship, which is exactly what it was. It was FUN!! We didn’t want to have a very traditional wedding. We had cornhole and life-sized Jenga (which the father of the bride handmade). There was a lot of dancing throughout the whole night with music that we loved. We wanted everyone to just enjoy themselves and enjoy our day with us.We had our favorite beer and wine, and even our favorite bubble waters. It was fun to put all the things we love into our special day and share them with everyone.

Any other of your wedding vendor(s) you’d like to call out that we missed in the above questions? The Davies Family, for opening up their home to us.  Also, Randie Bunker who set up and organized everything for us with the help of my Aunt April and Aunt Peggy.  It truly was beautiful. And it took an army to set up.

First Dance Song:  “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Our wedding was very small — 65 people.  A lot of people were very curious why it was small and why we got married so quick.  People are always going to have something to say.  Remember that it’s your day, no matter what other people have to say. Don’t entertain other people’s opinions. Invite who you want to invite and not who you feel like you “have” to invite. Enjoy every moment of the process with your families and each other.  It flies by so fast, and you’ll be so glad you kept to what made you both happy on the big day.

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Not a single thing. It was a giant party celebrating our love with many of our favorite people. Can we do it again?
