Plymouth Wedding Inspiration: Love You to the Moon and Back {Styled Cuisine}

They say one of the top things to consider for your wedding is the food. Provide a tasty, warm meal and you’ll provide your guests with comfort and smiles. We’re lucky enough to have professional chefs and caterers provide food for our styled shoots and the talented Diane Wilkinson of Diane Wilkinson Catering provided the styled cuisine for “Love You to the Moon and Back” styled shoot. Below, Diane shares her creations and the creative process behind them.

The food represents an eclectic smattering of flavor-filled goodies. I choose these for the shoot based on seasonality, simplicity, visuals (for photography) and, of course, flavor.

BACON WRAPPED DATES

Appetizers include one of my specialties, bacon wrapped dates. A pitted date is stuffed with a toasted almond, wrapped in bacon then slow baked until caramelized. I make these by the thousands. People go to an event, see the dates and immediately know Diane Wilkinson Catering is preparing the food.

HOMEMADE PITA CHIPS WITH HUMMUS TOPPED WITH BLACK CAVIAR AND PARSLEY

A homemade pita chip with smoked paprika topped with hummus and black caviar adds a touch of mystery and exotic flavor.

SOUP SHOOTERS WITH HALF MOON CROUTON

The tomato basil soup shooter is trendy and whimsical with the moon- and star-shaped croutons. This vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dish allows you to offer up something for everyone without compromising on flavor.

SPINACH SALAD WITH FETA, PEPITAS, CRANBERRIES, ROASTED SWEET POTATOES AND MAPLE SYRUP VINAIGRETTE

This spinach salad is a year round staple. There are always sweet potatoes to be had, and the salad is sweet and savory.

STUFFED CHICKEN BREAST TOPPED WITH FRESH MOZZARELLA AND PARMESAN

I chose the stuffed chicken for its flavor: basil and roasted red pepper stuffing, topped with fresh mozzarella and more basil–for a photo op. It is super simple to put together, looks good and is succulent.

YUKON GOLD POTATO GRATIN

My yukon gold potato gratin is like silk and lusciousness to your palate. Potatoes, cream, fresh parmesan and nutmeg…so simple. Goes everywhere all year long.

ASPARAGUS WITH WRAPPED PROSCIUTTO AND BALSAMIC DRIZZLE

The asparagus wrapped in prosciutto are seasonal, and with a drizzle of balsamic reduction they are just the best.

ARTISAN BREADS WITH BUTTER

24 years catering, still going and still loving it. I love looking at the pantry and the organic garden and asking, ‘What can I create?’ The experience is corporate, non-profit and a large part is catering for film shoots all over Northern California. They call me The General, maybe it’s because I’m old, but I hope it’s because I know what I am doing and can get the job done!
