Rachel and Grant said “I do” against the towering pines and shimmering waters of Valhalla Tahoe, where dusty blue ribbons and lush white florals set a soft, romantic tone from the ceremony lawn to the reception tables. True to their easygoing love story, the couple opted to wear live mics during their ceremony—a choice that let their infectious laughter carry out to every guest. “Our guests said they could hear us giggling into our mics throughout the entire ceremony,” Rachel shared. “We could not stop smiling from excitement. I think it added realness to our ceremony.” From welcome drinks waiting at the door to the golden hour glow over the lake during toasts, every detail was designed to keep the mood exactly that: relaxed, joyful, and real.
As the sun dipped behind the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the celebration moved indoors to Valhalla’s historic Grand Hall, where the dance floor stayed full late into the night. Rachel and Grant knew from the start they wanted their guests to feel instantly at ease, and that instinct paid off—from the best man’s speech that had the room in stitches to the band’s electric set that had everyone on their feet. Looking back, the couple wouldn’t change a thing. “Everything is going to work out,” Rachel says of her advice to future couples. “Just remember it’s about you and your partner too.”
