Melanie Soleil Photography
Tell us a little about your company? I specialize in luscious sun*kissed weddings and helping my brides look and feel beautiful!
When did you establish your business? Formally in 2005, but I’ve been a photographer since the olden film days.
What sets you apart from your competition? The connection I establish with my clients – it’s priceless. We really give our couples a “wedding experience” vs. ordinary wedding photography.
Where do you find inspiration? People in love.
What trend do you see coming for weddings this year? I see more couples having weekend weddings- a chance for all their family and friends to really spend an indulgent, fun weekend celebrating together.
Do you regularly blog? Yes, I (try) to blog regularly here.
Are you on social media? Yes, you can follow me on Facebook here and Twitter here
What professional organizations are you a member of? WPPI
Can you share a funny/embarrassing/touching story about one of your clients? One bride last year gained a little too much weight and couldn’t zip her dress up… luckily I come prepared with a bridal kit! We had to do a last minute tuck-and-sew to make the dress an open backed dress… no one even noticed!
What’s your favorite comment/compliment that one of your clients has given you? “I thought you had left the wedding. I didn’t even see you getting all these great pictures”
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Mikuni’s Sushi
What’s your favorite local charity? An international charity- Hope Matters
What is your favorite fun thing to do locally? Hike in the beautiful foothills.
Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? Good chocolate and good wine, preferably together.
Do you have any hidden talents? I’m an expert at pinning corsages, and bustling brides’ dresses (it happens at almost every wedding!)
If you weren’t in the business that you are in now, what other business/profession would you have liked to have done? A therapist or maybe a farmer.
If you were to plan your own wedding, or re-do your wedding, what element(s) would be most important to you? Photography and having a super fun day!
What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Have fun, never have a friend take your wedding photos, and don’t forget to eat breakfast on your wedding day!
