Wedgewood at Sequoia Mansion
Tell us a little about your company? Wedgewood at Sequoia is a beautifully restored Victorian mansion in the heart of historic Placerville, CA. It is a unique and charming property offering brides all-inclusive wedding packages paired with the warmth and friendliness associated with small town venues, yet is only a 40-minute drive from downtown Sacramento.
When did you establish your business? January 2012
What sets you apart from your competition? Value! We offer unbeatable pricing as well as an outstanding product.
Where do you find inspiration? We are at the gateway to Lake Tahoe, so our inspiration comes from nature. Sequoia Mansion naturally lends itself to the trends we saw this past year with vintage/rustic weddings leading the boards on Pinterest and in wedding magazines. We love everything vintage, from old glass bottles to chalkboards and lace!
Can you share a funny/embarrassing/touching story about one of your clients? The first weekend in December (2012), the Sacramento area was hit with huge storms which brought heavy rains and high winds. We had a bride about to walk down the isle when the power went out! It was pouring rain and she had to decide whether to keep her guests waiting and hope that it would come back on sooner than later or to just go with it. She decided to get married and walk down the aisle with only the sound of rain instead of music to accompany her. It was absolutely gorgeous and incredibly romantic to see her embrace the moment. Afterwards she told me that it only added to the appeal of the old house seeing that it was built without electricity in 1853. It was the perfect example of going with the flow and living in the moment!
What’s your favorite comment/compliment that one of your clients has given you? That she loved her wedding so much she wants to work here at Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion!
What is your favorite fun thing to do locally? Apple Hill in the fall and before Christmas. It is only a few miles up the road from the Mansion and is beautiful during the holidays. It reminds me of being a kid with Christmas tree farms, hot apple cider and apple doughnuts!
Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? Pinterest. I’m an addict!
Do you have any hidden talents? Ice skating, I grew up in Canada.
What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Do your research. Venues like Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion with all-inclusive, customizable packages are the way to go. You can always add simple and inexpensive DIY touches to make up for anything all-inclusive packages don’t provide, and having a stress-free wedding day, where everything is done for you, is invaluable and creates memories that will truly last a lifetime.
