Welcome back to our blog series to get to know Real Weddings Magazine’s REAL bride models! In this installment, you get to learn a little bit more about Jasmine Aguila, who modeled in Real Weddings Magazine’s “Passion for Pink” decor inspiration photo shoot. This woman is such a trouper—she agreed to do our photo shoot, which was scheduled just a few days before her own big day! Not only is she beautiful (aren’t her pictures stunning?!), she was the epitome of calm, collected and confident during our shoot—thank you Jasmine for being such a great Real Weddings Magazine real bride model! So without further ado, may we present Jasmine Aguila!
What made you want to model for this photo shoot?
When I found out about the theme for the shoot, I was immediately excited because it is so different from what we were planning our own wedding to look like. Wanting to incorporate both of our tastes and interests, we were aiming for a more “rustic” and “eclectic” feel and to be able to be a part of something so glamorous and over-the-top was definitely a treat.
What was your favorite part of modeling?
My favorite part of the modeling experience was trying on all of the dress, shoe, and accessory options that were available for the shoot. For my own wedding, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted my dress to be and only tried on three dresses during my fitting, so to try on multiple dresses with shoes and accessories and have people comment on what looked good with what, I felt like Carrie Bradshaw for a day.
What was your favorite part of this shoot?
My favorite part of the shoot was working with such a great team. Every person at the shoot had such a creative talent and an eye for all things aesthetically pleasing; it was awesome to see all of the hard work and planning that goes into a photo.
What do you do for a living?
I am a special education teacher.
Tell us about your own wedding.
Both of our families enjoy good food, good music and having a good time so these were key elements in planning our wedding. We decided to go with Krush Burger for not only their great food options, but economically it made sense. They provided gourmet food at a reasonable price, and everyone loved the fact that we had a truck at the reception. We knew we wanted live music and a family member recommended local cover band Mercy Me who had everyone on the dance floor and were fantastic to work with. We wanted to create a comfortable atmosphere for our guests, and since we both love camping, we decided to capture the spirit of camping throughout our reception. We had a s’mores bar, a “tent” lounge, rustic centerpieces, a camping-themed photo booth, and plenty of woodsy elements throughout. Our wonderful photographer, Carmen Salazar, was also able to capture the same spirit in our photos, with many of our group shots and couple photos in natural settings. The best part, in the end, besides being married to one another, is hearing how much our family and friends enjoyed the wedding and being able to celebrate with us.
How did it feel to wear a wedding gown again?
It was surreal to wear a wedding dress for the first time since the photo shoot took place a few days before my own wedding. When my now-husband came to pick me up from the photo shoot, he admitted to me later that he was speechless and did not know what to say when he first saw me in one of the wedding dresses at the shoot, especially since the one he saw me in was much more glamorous than my own dress, which was very sleek and Grecian-inspired.
What did your spouse and/or family think about your photos?
They loved the photos! We were all very surprised that I had such a huge spread in the magazine. The photos really captured the essence of the shoot, which was pink, glitz and glam.
