The Couple: Marissa Chapa and Kenny Gouveia

Wedding Date: June 16, 2012

Photography by Lori Makabe Photography

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We met in college at California State University, Sacramento. Marissa graduated with a degree in business while Kenny got his in criminal justice. Marissa got a job in the business field while Kenny was already employed with the Sheriff’s Department. Marissa is a very kind hearted and loving person while Kenny has a law enforcement personality, so we balance each other out very well. We were together for 4 years before tying the knot. We are both very happy and love our lives together.

What was the most amazing part of your day? Celebrating with family and friends (many of which we had not seen for years).

What else would you like to share about your big day? It was an amazing day, besides the heat. The venue was beautifully done and we truly enjoyed ourselves.

Any other of your wedding vendor(s) you’d like to call out? Lori Makabe Photography and her staff are absolutely AMAZING. They pretty much took on the role of wedding coordinators and were absolutely PRICELESS the day of our wedding. Lori is one of the nicest, job driven, and has a vision for each of her jobs. If you need a photographer, we HIGHLY recommend her. We could not have asked for more.

First Dance Song: “Marry Me” by Train

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? PLAN AHEAD. We gave ourselves 18 months to plan our wedding, which was more than enough. Do not wait until the last minute on anything because all of the good vendors may potentially be booked on your date.

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? We would have hired a different D.J./Photo Booth provider. That was the only negative experience we had. The rest was AMAZING.
