Beauty, grace and one heck of a smile…that’s our real bride model Cheryle Roberts who stars in our “Southern Comfort” styled shoot. This gorgeous bride-to-be simply glowed during our shoot at Rancho Victoria Vineyards this past March! And who knew that she was from Texas…yep, she was the perfect real bride to be this styled shoot’s star! So without further ado, let’s learn a little more about Cheryle!
RW: What made you want to model for this shoot?
CR: I was very excited, as I love weddings and am very excited about my wedding. I love the idea of being a muse for a shoot, and getting made up and wearing great dresses!
RW: What was your favorite part of modeling?
CR: The great compliments from all those involved and feeling like a queen. My dresses and my makeup and hair were wonderful. It was a great preparation for my big day!
RW: What was your favorite part of this shoot? Did you relate to the concept?
CR: I loved the location; it was beautiful and not far from the city. The owner of the venue was so nice and accommodating. The “Southern Comfort” theme was great; I love Southern food and my family is from Texas, so I did relate for sure!
RW: What do you do for a living?
CR: I’m a college professor/lecturer at Sacramento City College and CSU Sacramento (social work) currently. I am also an expert witness in adoption and foster care, a consultant for adoption agencies, an adoption home study worker, and a travel agent with a Disney specialty!
RW: What do you do for fun?
CR: I love to travel and spend time with my family. I love seeing and exploring new places, and, of course, doing anything related to Disney! My family is going on a Disney Cruise this summer and we can’t wait. I’m also spending some of my honeymoon at Disney World.
RW: Tell us about your love story. How did you meet? What was the proposal like?
CR: We actually met more than 15 years ago. After a series of missed connections, we finally connected on Facebook and began talking back and forth. When I came back from one of my weeklong cruise vacations he called me and we have been together ever since. We had been looking at rings for months before, and he came to my daughter’s taekwondo class where I was, and came to my car window and said, “Here you are,” and handed me a ring box with my ring in it. This was so him! I said yes and it has been a whirlwind ever since!
RW: Tell us about your own wedding.
CR: We are getting married at The Falls Event Center in Elk Grove. We have a wedding party of eight people on each side, two junior groomsmen (his sons) and one junior bridesmaid (my daughter), as well as three flower girls. Our colors are red and gold, and it is a sophisticated evening wedding with a plan for lots of great food, dancing and fun! Our goal is for our guests to have full stomachs and a fun time.
RW: If you could offer any advice to future brides, what would it be?
CR: Hire a wedding planner. My planner, Rachelle Cain, is the best and keeps me on task. Also, just enjoy every moment and focus on you and your groom—the real reason for the ceremony. The ceremony is just one day, but the focus should be on your lifetime commitment.
