Now, let’s introduce you to Blythe—featured in our “Gold Country Glam” cover model finalist photo shoot. We love her advice to brides-to-be…read on dear ones!

Why did you enter this contest?
Blythe: It felt like the perfect way to truly embrace and celebrate everything about my new chapter of becoming a BRIDE! Especially being a Sacramento native with so much love for my roots, I just knew this opportunity would be a phenomenal way to commemorate that.

What did your partner think about you entering this contest? What was their reaction when you were selected? What was your reaction when you were selected?
Blythe: He was so excited (and cute)—we both weren’t so sure if anything would come of it, but the hope for this unique possibility was definitely there. When I was selected I am pretty certain he shouted “MY BRIDE IS FAMOUS, WOOWEE HOT MOMMA!!” I was so overwhelmed (in the best way possible!), and while I have no modeling experience and had no idea what to expect, I could not stop smiling and could not wait for the shoot to come!

Tell us about your cover model experience.
Blythe: I can’t even begin to express how incredible the entire day was. I walked into Hotel Sutter to so many beautiful, smiling faces, a robe and flip flops waiting for me, and superwomen as my hair and makeup team. Everyone made me feel as if we’d been friends for years; it was so comfortable. I truly felt like a bridal QUEEN; all of the thought and heart that went into making every different look what it was simply comes down to one word: magic. That’s what the whole process was. From the coordinators, photographers and videographer, hair and makeup, fashion team to the bridal bouquets…if you can’t tell, I could go on and on! It’s impossible to choose a favorite part, because it’s genuinely the entire start to finish that made this such a special experience. My heart was overflowing with joy and eagerness knowing this “practice bridal run” would soon be the real deal; and I couldn’t stop reflecting on how I can’t wait to say “I Do” to my best friend. The excitement from the day filled every room we went to, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face afterward!

Tell us about your love story. How did you meet?  What was the proposal like?
Blythe: Our fate was sealed when our individual paths brought each of us to University of Redlands…but our love story didn’t begin until we’d already graduated on to other things. As acquaintances with a shared Alma Mater, Facebook helped to keep us vaguely associated. But when a radiant picture of Jordan smiling and hoisting Maddie (our boxer) on his shoulders showed up on my feed, I was smitten… And compelled to reach out. Our newfound connection was magnetic, effortless and persevering. In a leap of faith, with all bets on love, Jordan flew me across the country for a weekend in Florida. The feelings we had cultivated remotely were multiplied tenfold in person. After a euphoric, margarita-filled, adventurous, validating weekend, our hearts were full, and determined to make it work. Jordan, a Weapons System Officer for the Navy, earned his wings in Florida while I was working in Southern California. With distance to contend with, we gained strength and depth in the less tangible areas of our relationship…and cherished the rarer moments spent together. Then Jordan was selected to fly F/A-18 Fighter Jets in Lemoore, California. He literally swept me off my feet and out of SoCal to build a life in “CowTown,” central California. Buoyed now by calling the same address home, we are rockin’ and rollin’ through the Central Valley in our careers establishing life as soon to be Mr. & Mrs.

The proposal!!! 11.27.17 🙂

We were on vacation in Oceanside, soaking in gratitude and beachside sunshine during a long Thanksgiving weekend (SoCal winter perks). It was our last day there, and Jordan had planned a date day out in San Diego. We started out with the Belmont Park rollercoaster (this was one of our first dates three years prior, and on our proposal day we were actually the only ones in the park; it was like we rented it out!). We finished off the morning with breakfast burritos (a main staple of our diet), and toured the USS Midway. I had never explored an aircraft carrier and it was a really special adventure as Jordan deploys off carriers. We then finished the day at Balboa Park — I was completely blissfully unaware of any of his stress that he has expressed after the fact. We held hands walking throughout the beautiful grounds at Balboa park, shared romantic memories, and ended up pond-side with the most incredible sun reflecting on the water. He started giving a love-spewing speech, got down on one knee, and about all I remember is I had full Dino-arms (what he calls my overwhelming excited hands-flying-up situation), and the photographer he had planned with was approaching us after capturing the entire moment from the bushes. The most magical moment is constantly relived through these photos, and all my dreams came true that day!

Tell us about your wedding day.
Blythe: Our wedding will be at the home of my lifelong family friends in Sacramento. We’re going to marry the comfort and joy of a backyard party with a fresh take on garden elegance. We want our memories to be filled with fragrant blooms, sparkling lights, and the familiarity of our friends and family having a spectacular time—drinks flowing, late night taco munching, and dancing the night away.

If you could offer any advice to future brides what would it be?
Blythe: ENJOY! Try to stay organized and remember that while planning can sometimes pile up or seem overwhelming, the end moment as you exchange vows and become husband and wife will make everything worth it. So have fun with the process, embrace help from your “bride tribe,” celebrate each step, and continue to fall more and more in love with your fiancé—after all, in love is the best place to be.
