Are you debating over how much alcohol to buy for your wedding? We know from experience that this can be an overwhelming task!
Lucky for us, the wine and wedding experts at Scribner Bend Vineyards are here to help you, our dear Real Weddings Brides! They’ve provided us with a simple formula to use when calculating wine and sparkling wine quantities for weddings.
Take it away Scribner Bend Vineyards!
If you’re serving your guests wine, here’s how to calculate wine quantity:
- Take the total number of guests and multiple by 2.5 glasses (some guests consume more than 2.5 glasses, some drink no wine at all (minors!), but 2.5 is an average)
- Divide that number by 4 (number of glasses per bottle)
- Then, divide by 12 (the number of bottles per case)… and voila, there’s your wine quantity calculation.
If you’re serving your guest sparkling wine, here’s how to calculate sparkling wine quantity:
- Take the total number of guests, multiply by 1.25 glasses (again, some guests drink more, some less, but 1.25 is an average)
- Divide that number by 4 (number of glasses per bottle)
- Then divide by 12 (the number of bottles per case)…and there’s your sparkling wine quantity calculation.
Confused? Don’t be…here’s a quick example for you:
SAMPLE — Guest Count 150
Wine: 150 x 2.5 = 375 /4 = 93.75 /12 = 8 cases of wine
Sparkling wine: 150 x 1.25 = 187.5 /4 = 37.5 /12 = 4 cases of sparkling wine
Thank you Scribner Bend Vineyards for the great advice!
Ok, now who’s ready for a glass of wine?
