Real Weddings Magazine: What made you want to model for this photo shoot?
Andrew: Unbeknownst to me, my wife entered into the competition. She’s definitely the more outgoing of the two, but I’m really glad she did. It was a ton of fun.
Lindsay: Who wouldn’t want to relive one of the best days?!

RW: Tell us about your modeling experience.
A: Definitely a fish out of water but it was cool to get out of my comfort zone and try something totally different. It was a really fun day and I’m glad we did it. I won’t quit my day job though!
L: In a nutshell: it was so much fun!
RW: How was modeling with your significant other?
A: A ton of fun! It was amazing to see her in a lot of different outfits that she wouldn’t naturally select, but as the day progressed I saw her confidence grow and she really harnessed the theme of the day.
L: It was great to see his reaction after every hair/makeup change and new dress. Great to see his eyes light up as he sees his wife in a new light! It was so much fun to play dress up with him at my side. Then of course a blast having to hold each other in a single position for the photographer while we were both holding each other tightly!

RW: Did you relate to the concept/theme?
A: Sometimes the best experiences are the ones you least expect! The theme did remind me of my high school prom, so it was certainly a trip down memory lane.
L: I loved the colors. They were much moodier than the colors we had at our wedding. So it was so much fun to have different colors, more intense makeup, different hairstyles, and different dresses than I would have chosen. The venue was gorgeous and can easily see how it would make a great place for weddings. The food set up and display of food/drink and of course the beyond gorgeous flowers were all amazing! I enjoy hosting parties/dinners and loved the set up for this wedding. I could see all of this being at a real wedding!
RW: What was your favorite part of the shoot?
A: The entire day was a blast. I went in not knowing what to expect so everything was super fun and exciting. The location was gorgeous and while I had less outfit changes than my wife, it was cool to step into an alter ego for a moment.
L: Being with all the vendors and hearing and seeing their reactions to everything from the amazing altar flowers to the different dresses and beyond. And of course, hearing Wendy’s crazy antics to get us smiling!

RW: Tell us about your love story. How did you meet? What was the proposal like?
A: We first met during a summer block party when we lived in London, England. It was a bit of a whirlwind introduction, but she knocked me off my feet, almost literally. We got engaged in Capri, Italy, overlooking the Punta Carena lighthouse. The engagement had the help of a local wedding planner and she arranged for a musician, wine and photography. The day started off with rain and almost missing the ferry from Sorrento, but the sun came out, we caught the ferry just in time, so it was perfect.

RW: Tell us about your wedding day.
A: Emotional and exhilarating. You think you know what is going to happen and it’s impossible to know every detail, so it was amazing to see so much for the first time. Everything exceeded our already lofty expectations, and we were blessed to have so many friends and family attend who traveled from far and wide. The day went by in the blink of an eye, and it was such a high!
L: Hectic. Amazing. The best. It started off with a workout class! My mom, bridal party and friends went to Orange Theory for a workout class and from then on the day was in full swing. We headed back to my hotel suite where the girls got ready and then before I knew it it was time for first look shots. While that happened our bridal party was at the hotel bar and it was nice to have a moment with just them before we really kicked things off. We headed to the Capitol for photos. There is an entrance at the Capitol with beautiful vaulted ceilings and black and white tiled flooring where we got a bunch of great pics. Then we headed to the venue for more pics. Then alas the actual ceremony was upon us! It was a whirlwind. It was amazing, I truly wish I could do it all over again!

RW: If you could offer any advice to engaged couples what would it be?
A: Give yourself plenty of time and don’t sweat the small stuff. Where you start and end up can be two completely different places so enjoy the journey!
L: Let go of the small things and don’t sweat them. If some small detail isn’t perfect don’t stress, it’s not worth it. Delegate tasks to others. People are more than willing to help, let go of some control so you have more time to focus on you and what is important. Save some time to really take a moment the morning of and be by yourself so you can just soak it all up, but once the day kicks into gear it’s a whirlwind!
