Ok Hunger Games fans, this one’s for you. I haven’t seen the movie yet (or read the book for that matter), but since the Oscars, I’m a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan.
So you can imagine my excitement when I saw her character, Katniss, modeling a wedding dress for the new poster of Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The dress was designed by Tex Saverio of Jakarta, Indonesia. The talented designer has also created gowns for celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian as well.
According to Catching Fire costume designer Trish Summerville, “We did several Skype calls with sketches to work together in designing the wedding dress. I had seen a dress he designed with a similar metal bodice, and I wanted to incorporate it into our wedding-dress design.”
As for the final product, the organza corset is covered in Swarovski crystals. The “flame” structure is made out of metal, and the skirt was created out of layers upon layers of organza and chiffon. There are also laser-cut feathers at the waist and shoulder, in honor of Katniss being called the “Mockingjay.”
Not going to give away any spoilers on how this unique wedding dress plays into the movie plot. You’ll just have to wait until Catching Fire hit screens this fall!
