Here to inspire you, it’s Real Weddings Wednesdays! Today, we present Rachel & Trevor
Wedding Date: October 10, 2020
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We are a pretty unique love story. Our dads have been best friends for over 40 years so we have known each other for our entire lives and went on trips to Arizona for spring training together when we were younger. In 2018 we were both living in the Bay Area and we became real friends rather than just being “family friends.” We went on our first date at a rooftop bar/restaurant called El Techo in the Mission district of San Francisco and the rest is history.
Planning the wedding took a lot of flexibility and willingness to accept change, like it did for most brides and grooms who got married in 2020. We both have big families and had over 300 people on our original guest list. We ultimately paired it down to just our parents, siblings, and aunts/uncles getting us to 45 people for our wedding celebration this year. We are having our larger gathering with everyone to celebrate our first anniversary on October 9, 2021.
What was the best part of your day? As cheesy as it is, the best part of our day was finally getting to call each other husband and wife. We were engaged for 18 months during which time we spent about 10 of those months doing long-distance. On top of that we were dealing with a pandemic and had numerous days where we wondered if we were even going to be able to get married this year. We were glad the day arrived and that we were able to spend it with some of the people who mean the most to us!
What else would you like to share about your day? My dad made the wooden table that the dessert is on. He made it out of a tree that was cut down at our family cabin.
