If you’re like us, you’ve been “ohhhing” and “ahhhing” over the super creative chalk art designs that have been popping up at weddings.
Do you ever look at those fancy chalkboards and wish you could create one yourself? Yeah…us too!
That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to take a chalk art class at Thistle and Honey last month taught by the uber-talented Johanna Meyers of Wedding Chalk Art.
Johanna taught us all about this Pinterest-worthy trend with enthusiasm, expertise and humor. This girl is a riot, trust us, you’ll love her. We reviewed tools and tricks of the trade, hand lettering and letterforms as well as layouts to make any chalkboard pop.
And, the fact that this class was held at Shannon Mahoney’s beautiful shop, Thistle and Honey, in El Dorado Hills was a total bonus. This place is full of sweet charm complete with lots of floral eye candy. Everyone felt comfortable and right at home.
Doesn’t this class look like a blast? We all had so much fun! I left feeling inspired and impressed by my fellow beginning chalk artists. I was so inspired, in fact, I practiced chalk art for five more hours after the class ended! Johanna gave us all of our tools and materials, so I was able to keep chalkin’ right at home.
