Real Weddings: What made you want to model for this photo shoot?

Sahana: I have a deep appreciation for all things weddings! Along with the power of photography to capture the emotions, love, and memories of such a special day. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event for many people, and the photos taken during the ceremony and reception become lasting proof of that beautiful day. By participating in this photo shoot, I saw an opportunity to be a part of creating those visual narratives.

RW: Tell us about your modeling experience.

S: Having the opportunity to be a part of is was truly so fun and such a memorable experience for me! I feel so honored to have been chosen. Although I didn’t have prior modeling experience, this photo shoot was my intro to the world of wedding photography, and being able to play a small role in all of it was so rewarding. I also got a chance to work with such a great team of vendors that are all so amazing at what they do!

RW: How was modeling with your significant other?

S: Sadly, my significant other was sick that day! Though it was a solo endeavor, I felt the presence of my partner’s support and love in spirit. He was cheering me on from home! The photographer and the entire team still managed to be so incredibly supportive and made the day feel so special and meaningful for me. It was an opportunity for me to adapt, remain flexible, and make the most of the situation all while being a good reminder of the surprises that come with planning a wedding! While I missed having Tanner by my side that day, I was able to cherish the experience of being a bride-to-be, and I look forward to the moment when we can share the beautiful photos together!

RW: Did you relate to the concept/theme?

S: The theme, inspired by the French countryside and romance, beautifully aligns with my own vision for our upcoming wedding. Our wedding theme is centered around a garden, and the whimsical and romantic charm from the photo shoot allowed me to connect with elements that resonate with our own plans.

RW: What was your favorite part of the shoot?

S: The entire shoot was amazing. Period. Moments with the sweet horse, getting to play dress up and being pushed in the canoe during sunset, in particular, were the highlights that added an extra layer of fun to my experience!

RW: Tell us about your love story. How did you meet? What was the proposal like?

S: Our love story began during our freshman year at the University of Nevada, Reno, where we were both Computer Science majors. We met in an evening class, having to work together on an assignment since we sat next to one another. Tanner’s easygoing and sweet nature stood out, and we became best friends throughout college. Fast forward to February 2023, we got engaged. The proposal took place in Yosemite National Park, back to where we had taken one of our very first trips together. Tanner lured me to the frozen Mirror Lake, where he got down on one knee in the snow, surprising me with a beautiful ring and a special bottle of wine to celebrate after. The “sno-posal” as I like to call it was a magical moment for us, shared with my sister and best friend who were there to capture the moment!

RW: Tell us about your wedding day.

S: Our wedding festivities will span over the course of two days, each with its own distinct ceremony. We will be getting married at Wolfe Heights Winery and Estates in Sacramento. First, we hope to hold an Indian ceremony, honoring the rich traditions of my heritage. This special event will be a tribute to my roots, filled with vibrant colors and intricate religious rituals. The next day we envision an American ceremony and reception to honor the traditions close to Tanner and his family. Surrounded by the gardens and willows at Wolfe Heights, we hope to have a whimsical, romantic, garden party ambiance while we bring our two cultures together with our families and friends.

RW: If you could offer any advice to engaged couples what would it be?

S: Prioritize open and honest communication in all aspects of your relationship, especially during wedding planning. Remember to celebrate what you both have together and take care of your physical and mental health. Self-care is so important! Finally, remember to learn and grow together. Teamwork makes the dream work.
