Happy Wednesday, and happy reading!
Tell us a little about you and your beloved.
Our story began in 2018 when we met in Chicago – thanks, Tinder! Kiera was in her third year of law school and Morgan was working in the city when we met for a drink at Sparrow in the Gold Coast. Kiera ordered a daiquiri (or two), we exchanged bike crash stories, and the rest is history. Early on, we knew we had something special and decided to take a leap of faith and move to New York City together. Three years later, on an unseasonably warm December night in New York, Kiera proposed to Morgan at what Morgan was led to believe was a cocktail making class. Morgan returned the favor and proposed to Kiera at Mockingbird in Nashville on New Year’s Eve (apparently, we love a bird-themed bar). In predictable fashion, we then celebrated our double engagement with Shake Shack. When we began our venue search, we kept coming back to the theme of a backyard celebration. When we toured our venue, we just knew it would be the perfect backdrop for our big day. Napa Valley holds a very special place in our hearts and we couldn’t picture getting married anywhere else!
What was the best part of your day?
We had the most beautiful cocktail hour and sunset. Luckily, the weather was gorgeous, so we enjoyed our family style dinner on Farmstead’s lawn, watching the sky change colors throughout the evening. It was truly magical.
What else would you like to share about your big day?
Because of the super bloom in California, we were so lucky to have a beautiful, lush landscape that felt so fresh and so spring. We also had the advantage of getting to choose from spring flowers and early summer flowers which made for beautiful and colorful floral scapes.
Advice from the couple:
We’d encourage anyone planning a wedding to make the decisions that feel right to you. You can get swept up in the planning process, so it was important for us to check back in with each other to make sure we were planning a day that felt right for us and reflected us as a couple. One example of this is that we had both of our parents walk each of us down the aisle and that ended up being a really special part of our day.
Anything you would have done differently?
We wish we could have tried more of our cocktail hour appetizers! Everyone told us the crab cakes were to die for!
