Sacramento Wedding Inspiration: Uptown Girls {Get to Know Meagen} from Fall '18

Meagen jokes that she met her fiance through Craigslist (scroll down to read her love story) but she brought that joking attitude and smile to our Cover Model Contest Finalist Photo Shoot, Uptown Girls, and had us laughing all day long! Her beautiful smile made it onto the cover making her the winner of our Cover Model Contest for our Fall 2018 edition.

Why did you enter this contest?

A friend of mine tagged me on an Instagram post promoting the Real Weddings Cover Model Contest. Of course I thought it sounded so fun, but I also thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try and see different hair and makeup looks for my big day!

What do you do for a living?

I own a spray-tanning studio in Midtown (Mist Custom Tanning) and make and sell candles (Lola Sage).

What do you do for fun?

Lola Sage is my creative outlet, but I also love to explore Sacramento since it’s still fairly new to me. I am a major foodie and love to check out all the restaurants in the area.

Tell us your love story.

My fiancé, Brandon, and I met in L.A. through my roommate (whom I found on Craigslist). I like to joke that I met Brandon on Craigslist, but don’t worry, that’s not the case. According to him, he knew I was the one almost immediately. He was persistent, so after a few weeks, I finally agreed to our first date. Brandon is the one for me for many reasons. He encourages me and pushes me to be my best self. He guides me through the difficult times with his crazy brilliant brain. We’re so like-minded and have the same interests and values. He never takes life too seriously, and I learn so much from him.

I definitely saw the proposal coming. Men cannot hide anything! During a night out with another couple, we found ourselves walking near the Capitol. Brandon guided me to a garden in between the Capitol and the Tower Bridge right at that gorgeous, golden sunset hour. He got down on one knee and proposed. The couple we were out with popped out from behind the bushes where they were hiding taking photos (smart man, a girl loves a proposal capture). We then went to Mulvaney’s B&L where Brandon reserved the back private wine room and we ate, drank and FaceTimed our families.

Tell us about your wedding day.

We are getting married at the Old Sugar Mill in August. I am praying the temperature will be below 97 degrees. Not too much to ask, right? It will be a fairly large wedding with lots of food, drinks and dancing!

What did your husband/fiancé think about you entering this contest? What did he say when you became a finalist? What did you think about yourself when you were selected?

He loved it! There was no doubt in his mind that I was going to get chosen from the top 10, and I was so happy he was right! I was so excited to basically get pampered and be around so much pretty for a day.

Tell us about your cover model experience.

I thought the experience was so seamless. Everyone on the team at Real Weddings is so professional and organized; it was such a lovely experience. I literally felt like a princess for a day. I mean, I had my own team! I was beaming afterwards, and I am so excited to see the final result.
