We love anything springtime-inspired and the perfect combination of soft yellow and lavender set the tone for this romantic and whimsical styled shoot featuring our very-much-in-love real couple models, Mallory and Ryan. Check out Honey Bee Good (yeah, we love a good pun, too)!
The print layout is featured below, but be on the lookout for extra photos, a behind the scenes video, and an interview with our real couple models in the coming months. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram and Pinterest so you never miss a post!
I’m always trying to find new ways to fit the color lavender into collaborations. Most real couples won’t choose lavender in their color palette, and I get it. It can be a challenging color to work with, but I like to challenge myself. I thought the mix of the yellows and neutrals worked so well alongside the natural lavender (color and flower)! I also like to style shoots to work with the venue we are shooting at, and Park Victorian has such a beautiful aesthetic. It perfectly complemented the wild bohemian vintage vibe we were going for. After the vibe and color palette are chosen the rest of the details seem to fall into place organically. However, the bee details did intentionally fall into the design pretty early on. It’s a bit of a personal thing for me. Bees are so important to our environment and I love honey, but I’ve had an irrational fear of them since I can remember. I’m terrified of being stung and I don’t even like the way they look. I run away if they are buzzing around me (or near me), BUT over the years I’ve gotten better about working around them. I even cut our rose bushes this year! My heart was racing the whole time, but I did it! I firmly believe we should push through and do the things that make us uncomfortable because ultimately that is what makes us grow. With that said, this shoot had a mantra behind it, “strength and perseverance.” Not only do the bees symbolize strength and perseverance to me personally, but this shoot was scheduled at the start of all the COVID-19 madness and we STILL managed to get it done. We did this safely of course with a skeleton crew and masks galore. I think we could all use a little more strength and perseverance especially after a year like 2020! It was so fun to work with this team! I hope the readers enjoy the photos.
